DAILY MONSTER 10

Good morning. And Happy Anniversary of sorts. Welcome to the Tenth Daily Monster. I tried to make it a little special in honor of the small, but real occasion. (And it looks like I picked a good day for it, too: Welcome, Friends of Ze.) I hope you’ll like it. Now it’s time for bed. Finally! But even though I’m tired you must know that 344 LOVES YOU

Very nice, I thought I was seeing something at the end. I had to rewind it to know for sure. Slick.

What do you do with the monsters when you’ve finished them?

Oh, and I’m a friend of Ze, but I’m a bigger fan of 344, because 344 loves me.

Hi Jen. When I’m done with each monster, I put the date and time on it, then I put it in an acid-free archival storage box along with all my other drawings. They may end up in a book or on a wall someday, or they may just stay in the box forever. Hard to say at this point… Their main function is as raw material for these film clips.

I thought I imagined the eye blink at the end! Awesome! You rock. I love watching these every day, and now I’m getting a chance to go through the older ones I missed.

HI Isky. Number 10 was the first of the monsters to blink. I actually drew the eyelid onto the original sheet for the stop motion effect and just edited out my hand in between frames. So this monster has — in its original state — closed its eye forever. Luckily he’s got one on the other side of his head that’s still open. I wouldn’t want him to have to fly around on echo location alone.

When I watch these I play the “Guess where the eye is going to go” game

Ist er endlich drin oder was?
Ich muss dringend mal Luftholen, sonst gerate ich arg ins Trudeln. Sturzflüge sind nun mal nicht mein Ding.

Twiggy used to have a full body. He could run, jump, and catch just like any other monster . Twiggy was also a very curious boy who always did thins that had nothing to do with him. One day he was strolling around and decided to go to the OFF LIMITS place for monsters. He saw this liquid ad decided to drink it because he was thirsty. When he drank it he felt this burning feeling in his body it wasn’t pain it was just very hot. One of the workers who worked there came in and started yelling. Twiggy couldn’t hear him because he was entranced by the feeling he was getting. Before he knew it the man sprayed something on him, but it was blurry. He woke up on his bed and when he got up he realized that half of his body was missing. He was so scared that something like that would happen again, so he stayed in his house and never came out again. I guess we could all learn a lesson from Twiggy if you are not supposed to do something don’t do it.
