FAREWELL SPEAKUP

Good morning yet again. A few days ago Armin and Bryony retired their genius blog SpeakUp. They were among the very first to link to the Daily Monster, and it seemed only fitting that the Monsters should salute SpeakUp as it rode into the electronic sunset:

What’s that? Yes, of course 344 LOVES YOU

Of all the ones you put up today, this is my fave. I love the surprises. *S*
Luckily I know how to use *pause* to capture. It’s so nice to see the guys back.

hey man!! so i found these daily monsters in an art design book and ive been hooked and researching about it as much as i can.. i really love your designs. its really cool how you take something so random and chaotic as the ink sprayed on the paper and transforming it into an image.. i have always done this growing up, i have this obsession of taking stains or water marks and outlining them first and then turning them into an image… i really like the idea of doing something like this on a daily basis to release creativity in a more playful manner to escape from the structure of clients and graphic design… keep up the good work!!

Hiya Seth! Thank you for your note! I’m glad you found the Monsters, and that you like ‘em. I love the idea of doing something with stains or watermarks. Also, I initially misread your comment and thought you said “stairs” not “stains,” which I liked, too. Depending on the angle, stairs can look like so many things, too. Plus, the silhouette of South America? Clearly a dude.
Doing this stuff daily really is the trick. Otherwise it’s too easy to freeze up and overthink, or just get distracted by life. Thank you again for your kind words! I hope you’ll find lots more fun on the site, and in making stuff of your own!
